WCSN-LD

WCSN was launched on March 24, 2007 as the Columbus Sports Network (CSN), Central Ohio's first and only continuous all-sports television station, broadcasting events, features, highlights and news on professional, collegiate, scholastic and amateur sports teams in the area. The first-ever telecast on CSN was an Arena Football matchup between the Columbus Destroyers and the Chicago Rush; the Destroyers lost to the Rush, 55-47.

CSN planned to broadcast approximately 400 live events each year, including Columbus Motor Speedway, Columbus Crew, Columbus Destroyers (home games), Columbus Clippers (select games), minor Ohio State University sports (including baseball, volleyball, lacrosse, and tennis), College Lacrosse and Baseball from universities from the OAC and NCAC, high schools from the OHSAA, Canadian Football, and various other events.

CSN launched a nightly 30-minute show called Sports Columbus on December 21, 2007. It spotlighted local sports highlights, news, and features of the day from Central Ohio. The show was co-anchored by Ray Crawford and Dionne Miller. Sports Columbus ran live at 10:00 PM (Eastern) Monday through Friday, with scheduled rebroadcasts the following day.

On June 6, 2008, the Columbus Dispatch reported that the production of programming had ended and that the business model was being reviewed.[1] WCSN left the air completely in August 2008; by September 8, 2008, it had returned intermittently with its current programming. Sports programming is no longer present on the station. Since then until some time in the summer of 2009, it broadcast only infomercials.

Provident Hospital (Chicago)

Provident Hospital[2], the first Black-owned and operated hospital in America[3], was established in Chicago in 1891 by Dr. Daniel Hale Williams an African American surgeon during the time in American history where few public or private medical facilities were open to Black citizens. Though the historic Provident Hospital was forced to close in 1987 due to financial difficulties, it reopened in 1993 as part of Cook County's Bureau of Health Services[4] to provide services to residents of Chicago's south side. It is now known as Provident Hospital of Cook County.[5] Alton Abraham, the social entrepreneur associated with Sun Ra worked here.

California Hotel History

Hotel California was the Eagles’ fifth album of original material and became a critical success and a major commercial hit; since its release in late 1976, it has sold over 16 million copies in the U.S. alone. The album was at #1 for eight weeks in early 1977 (non-consecutively), and included two tracks which became #1 hits as singles on the Billboard Hot 100: “New Kid in Town”, on February 26, 1977, and “Hotel California” on May 7, 1977.

In 2001 the TV network VH1 named Hotel California #38 on 100 Greatest Albums of all time. Hotel California was ranked 13th in a 2005 survey held by British television's Channel 4 to determine the 100 greatest albums of all time. In 2003, the album was ranked number 37 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.[3]

Following its original release on standard LP, cassette and 8-track cartridge formats, the album was slated for Quadraphonic release in early 1977; this idea was ultimately dropped following the demise of the Quadraphonic format. However, in 2001, that is, 25 years later, the album was released in a Multichannel 5.1 DVD-Audio disc. On August 17, 2011, the album was also released on a hybrid SACD in Japan in The Warner Premium Sound series, containing both a stereo and a 5.1 mix.[4]
